Canopy Gardens was developed by two young men with a passion and connection to the outdoors. Nicholas Irwin and Mercer Gunnels have each received a Bachelors degree of Science in Horticulture with an emphasis in landscape design from the University of Nebraska-Lincoln.
Ultimately, the business has drawn like minded individuals with similar passions and interests. From the massing of a single species to create a flowing ambience of plant material, to a stacked random pattern natural stone wall, our team works efficiently and effectively.
Nick Irwin
Nick oversees design services at Canopy. Upon graduating from the University of Nebraska-Lincoln with a bachelors degree in Horticultural Sciences and Landscape Design, he was then recognized for outstanding achievement in Floriculture, Landscape and Ornamental Horticulture. Nick's extensive plant knowledge and unique design aesthetic has also earned him a place with the Nebraska Nursery and Landscape Association as a Nebraska Certified Nursery & Landscape Professional.

Mercer Gunnels
Mercer manages Canopy's daily operations. Mercer was introduced to the green industry as a young adult. His vast knowledge and work experience pertaining to landscape installation and maintenance, coupled with a bachelors degree in Horticultural Sciences and Landscape Design from the University of Nebraska-Lincoln, makes Mercer and integral member of the Canopy team. Mercer is adept at transforming an idea developed on paper to a usable reality.
